Series Overview

Sponsored by Discmania

We are stoked to be able to bring you the inaugural "Down South Series". Through 2018/19 we will run 8 one day events at new and established venues throughout the South of England. In subsequent years we will look at memberships but for this series we will keep it simple with basic tournament fees.

Our aim is to help grow and showcase the sport of Disc Golf and the 8 venues will be a mix of temporary, new and established courses. A huge thank you must go to the teams at Innova Europe and Discmania for making this series possible.

Series format

Every player will receive 1 Point for participating in an event and then receive additional points based on the number of players beaten or tied with. Example Player A wins their division of 25 players. They receive 1 point for playing plus 24points for the players beaten. Player B finishes 10th in the same division they receive 15 points plus 1 for participating.

  • If you do not finish the tournament (DNF), you will NOT earn any points for that tournament.

  • You must compete in at least 4 events to qualify for series placings and prizes. Final placings will be based on a players best 4 points totals. In the event of a tie count back will be used with the player with the highest score placing higher. If the first score for each player is the same then the second score will be used and so on:

    • Example: Player A and B are tied 100 points. Players A has points of 30, 30, 30 & 10 whilst Player B has points of 25, 25, 25 , 25. Player A would place higher by the fact that their best score is better that Players B best score. This method aslo rewards those players planing well against larger fields.

The series will map to the BDGA Tour divisions. These are currently being finalised and should be in place prior to the event. As such, divisions will be allocated just prior to or on the day of the event. In the unlikely occurance of a delay in the BDGA finalising these divisions we will retrospectively map entrants against them.

At individual events some divisions may be grouped for the purposes of viable playing groups and prize giving.

For the overall series divisions there must be 5 players with the qualifying number of events in that division for it to be recognised.

Players may play in any division that the are eligable to play in, in any event. Points accumulated in different divisions are not portable, however every event played will contribute toward a players total of 4 events that are required to qualify for end of season prizes.

By playing in the series you will be able to access or receive several benefits to date these include (although we may add to these at a later date):

  • Events will be PDGA sanctioned providng the ability to contribute to a PDGA rating

  • Events will be include in the BDGA 2018/19 tour allowing accumulation of tour points

  • At a players first appearance at a series event they will receive a free Discmania D-Line disc from a selection available on the day

  • At a players 3rd event they will receive a personal 10% discount code re-useable and valid for online purchases of discs and equipment at until the end of the series as defined by the date of the final event.
