Disc Golf disc reviews and event write ups.

Dan Whiteman

So, the penultimate round of the Down South Series is in the books. As everybody dries out following a day of typical British weather I thought I would take the opportunity to review the event and look forward to the final event in the series at Royal Berkshire DGC (Dinton Pastures) on 2nd November.

19 players payed scant regard to the weather forecasts and made the trip to Calcot manor which following a recent grass cut was in great condition. In the MPO division Matt Cutler started well in difficult conditions shooting the morning hot round with a 954 rated 56 amidst the torrential rain. Matt was closely followed by Patrick Luke making his first appearance in the series with a 57. Another player making their first appearance in the series was Dan Brown who lead the MP40 division after the morning round with a 59, a lead he wouldn’t give up after shooting a 968 rated 55 in the afternoon to seal a 6 shot win over Jack Goolden.

In MA3 Ben Cooper shot a strong 61 to hold a 2 shot lead over Josh Dyer and in MA40 Jon Cicuttin lead by 1 from Skanda Huggins with a 62.

As the rain eased off for the afternoon round there was a reverse on the MPO division. Patrick Luke winning the division following a play off by shooting a tournament hot round of 52 rated at 997 vs Matt Cutler’s 53. In MA3 The change in weather suited Josh Dyer as he stormed his way to a 55 and a 6 shot win. Jon Cicuttin couldn’t hold on in MA40 and was overhauled by Skanda Huggins who shot a solid 61 in the afternoon to win the division by 4 shots. A special mention must also go out to Basil Sieglinger in MJ18 who has been tipped as one to watch for the future by those that saw him throw on the day.

Looking forward to the Series Finale on 2nd November at Royal Berkshire DGC Jon Cicuttin’s second place has moved him from 10th to 3rd in MA40 putting pressure on James Burton and Robb Hamilton neither of whom played at Calcot. In MA2 Paul Stoddart has increased his lead by 1 over Rich Hooper and in MPO Matt Cutler moves ahead of Freddy Unt into 2nd place behind Si Luard. Heading into the final round it looks like it is all to play for in most divisions especially if there is a big turnout.

Congratulations to all the divisional winners at Calcot, bring on the finals!

Review - Kastaplast Falk

Dan Whiteman

Falk is a great addition to the Kastaplast lineup, it has something for everyone and is likely to become a firm favorite. If you want glide and distance let the Falk soar!
